About Me

I would like to be your next Town Clerk!

I am the mother of 3 sons all of whom were raised right here in Shandaken.

Nick who 28 is a United States Marine. He now lives in Colorado, attends Johnson and Wales Culinary School and works in the restaurant business!

Alex is 25 and is also living in Colorado! He grew up making pizza at Village Pizza both in Phoenicia and Shokan. He currently lives in Denver and is still doing what he loves to do making pizza!

Stefan is 20 he lives here with me in Chicester. He works at Mama's Boy Cafe! He is working on deciding his future!

Let me give you some of my qualifications and reasons why I think I am the best person for the job.

I have owned 2 successful businesses in this town- How Sweet It Is(a home based business) and Village Pizza and was the driving force behind the community playground built at the Phoenicia School in 1991.

In 2002 I was hired by United Health Care Insurance Company where I worked for 5 years. I have an excellent understanding of customer service, which is not always easy as some of you may know.

In 2007 I was hired by the Town of Ulster as a court clerk. As part of the job I am required to interact with people diverse backgrounds. As such I treat everyone with respect and courtesy!. People often come to the office frightened, emotional and/or belligerent. It was my job to diffuse a bad situation, calm an emotional person or reassure a frightened one in order to accomplish a positive outcome.  I treat every  individual with dignity and kindness.

On criminal court days I would sit next to the judge and was required to take detailed notes during trial. At times that meant needing to be capable of listening to the judge, the assistant district attorney and the defendant’s attorney or the defendant them self simultaneously while still being able to get all sections of the law and information necessary for record keeping and the verdict of the trial.

I had the benefit of working jointly with the town clerks office so I am already familiar with many of the responsibilities of the town clerks office.

I have been working with the public for most of my life in one form or another. I believe that no matter what someone’s standing is in society it is my responsibility to treat them with respect and courtesy. I work for you and would do everything in my power to help you with paperwork or record keeping information that is requested. It is a privilege to be elected into this office and I take that very seriously. A little kindness can go a very long way.

Times have changed quite a bit since I moved to Shandaken. When I first got here everyone knew each other and were able to discuss differences, coming to a solution without splitting the town in two. Its not about which side your on it’s about how do we do what is best for our town. We live in a very special place and I am devoted to seeing it stay that way.  So many of us come from somewhere else and were drawn in by the charm of these mountains. It is my home and I want to see it thrive.

This place we live in is very special, the people care about each other. It is why I chose to raise my three boys here.  When my oldest son Nick was a Marine stationed in Iraq, people that I didn’t even know would come up to me in the street just ask about my son's well being  They would tell me that they would keep us in their prayers. The American Legion was thoughtful enough to send him money to purchase what he may have needed while overseas. You can’t imagine how much that meant to him, to me and to his brothers.

I don’t know if I can express my appreciation for such kindness but I do know that this does not happen everywhere. The people of this town made a very difficult time in my life bearable by their kindness and emotional support. I want to return to you what you gave to me. Since Hurricane Irene we have shown how hard we can all work together to help each other. It didn't matter if we knew each other or not. Many of us chose to volunteer to help our local business' and neighbors get back on their feet. I myself spent every day for two weeks at the Phoenicia firehouse feeding and trying to nurture both town employees and people who had been displaced by this tradgedy. It made me feel as if I could return the kindness that had been shown to me.  I know that together we can reunite this town to become a cohesive and peaceful place.  I believe that we have just shown each other how devoted we are to Shandaken. If we continue in this mind set we will successfully draw people to want to visit our beautiful community.

My children are grown, my business’ are in my past and I can give this job 100 % of my time. I hope that you will help me become the next Town Clerk. It is time for a change and I believe that I can be just the person to make it a positive change and do it with a smile on my face! Please help me by voting on the United Shandaken Party line!
